Mediterranea conveys a taste of land and sea which is linked to a culture of simplicity and everyday beauty. This project is a quest for experimenting with innovative shapes and materials, in which technology sculpts smooth yet at times sharp volume. Taste is intended to be translated into emotion. A careful selection of materials and lines is aimed at evoking landscapes and atmospheres of our traditions to be re-interpreted in modern spaces and finishes.

The Musa project is based on experimentation with materials. Cement and wood are explored to obtain a sensational tactile and visual effect. A neutral though warm color such as gray, and the even, smooth texture with lighter veins underneath perfectly match a natural material such as wood.

This gives warmth to the kitchen no matter what the decoration of the living area. The main concept of this kitchen is the large cut, a deep ridge that splits the composition into two parts and is coated with and filled by a thin charcoal gray metal sheet which bends over itself to become the actual sink.

This dramatic cut facing the observer becomes the main element of decoration as it is specially suitable to contain vases, plants or any type of objects which could characterize and customize it. Moreover, it streamlines the spatial motion of cooking – with the position of the sink and the stove — from the static space of the viewer in the foreground. The composition is further enhanced by more carvings in which wood boxes – a typically “warm” materia -l- are placed both in the front of the island, its lower part, and on the vertical profile of the kitchen unit in the background.
